AMD EPYC 9006 Venice Announced & Looks Poised To Be A Grand Slam

AMD has officially announced the EPYC 9006 'Venice' server processor at AMD Advancing AI 2026. Venice is built on Zen 6 architecture and offers up to 256 cores/512 threads per socket, DDR5-8000 and Gen2 MRDIMM-12800 memory support, PCIe Gen 6 with up to 160 lanes, and approximately 20% more performance per core over the already strong EPYC 9005 Turin. The new memory support directly eliminates Intel Xeon 6 Granite Rapids' key memory bandwidth advantage, leaving only AMX support as a differentiator for Intel. EPYC 9006 SP7 is expected in Q4, with 3D V-Cache (Venice-X) variants arriving in 2027. Intel's competing Xeon Diamond Rapids isn't expected until at least 2027, leaving AMD in a strong competitive position.
