CISA: Microsoft SharePoint RCE flaw now actively exploited
CISA has added CVE-2026-45659, a high-severity Microsoft SharePoint remote code execution vulnerability, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog after confirming active exploitation. The flaw stems from deserialization of untrusted data and allows any authenticated attacker with minimal Site Member permissions to execute arbitrary code remotely without user interaction. Microsoft patched SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016, SharePoint Server 2019, and SharePoint Server Subscription Edition on May 21. Over 10,000 SharePoint servers remain exposed online. Federal agencies have been ordered to patch by Saturday under Binding Operational Directive 26-04. This is the 11th SharePoint vulnerability CISA has flagged since 2021, with seven linked to ransomware attacks.
