A follow-up hardware repair on a 3dfx Voodoo graphics card addresses an overly bright picture caused by a faulty internal Vref on the ICS5342 RAMDAC. The original fix used a simple resistor, but criticism about component drift prompted an improved solution: an adjustable AMS1117-ADJ LDO voltage regulator supplying a stable 1.235V to the RAMDAC's external Vref pin. Since the Orchid-branded Voodoo card never had provisions for this component, the mod required careful planning of component placement and routing on the PCB. After implementation and testing, the brightness issue is resolved with a more robust, drift-resistant fix.
