Android 17 (API Level 37): Everything Android Developers Need to Know

Android 17 (API Level 37, tên mã Cinnamon Bun) ra mắt ngày 16/6/2026 với nhiều thay đổi quan trọng: bắt buộc giao diện thích ứng trên màn hình lớn, quyền ACCESS_LOCAL_NETWORK runtime, thay thế READ_CONTACTS bằng Contact Picker, giới hạn trễ OTP SMS 3 giờ, và hạn chế audio nền buộc chuyển từ ExoPlayer 2 sang Media3. Ngoài ra, ART bổ sung garbage collection thế hệ mới, camera dynamic output surfaces, định dạng RAW14, giải mã VVC (H.266), cùng API Handoff cho đa thiết bị. Google Play yêu cầu target API 37 từ tháng 8/2027.

Google loses final appeal over record €4.1 billion EU Android fine

The Court of Justice of the EU has dismissed Google's final appeal against a €4.1 billion antitrust fine, ending an eight-year legal battle over Android. The European Commission originally fined Google €4.34 billion in 2018 for requiring phone makers to pre-install Google Search and Chrome as a condition of accessing the Play Store, and for paying manufacturers to exclude rival search apps. The General Court reduced the fine to €4.125 billion in 2022, but upheld the core finding. Google's argument that regulators should have modeled a counterfactual market before setting the penalty was rejected. No further appeals are possible. The ruling arrives as Google simultaneously faces new EU pressure under the Digital Markets Act to open Android's interoperability features to rival AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude, with a binding decision expected this month.
