Pidgin 3.0 Alpha 2 2.96.0 has been released!

Pidgin 3.0 Alpha 2 (version 2.96.0) has been released as a timed developer snapshot, not intended for end users. Key highlights include built-in notification and sound support (replacing plugins), conversation member avatars, a scheduler UI, Zulip direct message support, and QR code login support. The release also removes the old request API, cleans up legacy code, and fixes several memory leaks. Alpha 3 (2.97.0) is scheduled for 2026-09-30. Available on SourceForge and Flathub Beta.
