QuantumDiamonds (QD), a Munich-based semiconductor equipment startup, has closed a €91 million funding round combining €15 million in equity led by World Fund with €76 million in non-dilutive European Chips Act support. The company uses quantum sensors built on synthetic diamond defects to perform non-destructive nanoscale current imaging, enabling chip manufacturers to detect buried defects in complex 3D architectures that traditional tools miss. Already working with nine of the world's ten largest semiconductor manufacturers and with systems deployed in the U.S. and Taiwan, QD plans to more than double its 70-person engineering team and open a new €152 million production facility in Munich later in 2026.
