Security Teams Are Ready To Become More Preemptive. What’s Holding Them Back?
A survey conducted at Rapid7's Global Security Summit reveals that most security teams aspire to become more proactive but face significant barriers. Key findings: 57% operate in a hybrid internal/MDR model, only 10% describe themselves as highly proactive, and 59% are only somewhat confident in preventing attacks before impact. AI adoption is in early-stage exploration for 52% of respondents, with trust and transparency cited as top concerns. The biggest obstacles to proactive security are limited staff or expertise (54%) and lack of visibility across environments (31%). The overall picture is one of ambition constrained by resource limitations, fragmented tooling, and the ongoing demands of reactive security work.
