Amazon EC2 R8g instances now available in additional regions

Amazon EC2 R8g instances, powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, are now available in five additional AWS regions: Asia Pacific (Thailand, New Zealand), Africa (Cape Town), Europe (Milan), and Canada West (Calgary). These instances are designed for memory-intensive workloads like databases, in-memory caches, and real-time big data analytics. Compared to Graviton3-based R7g instances, R8g instances offer up to 30% better overall performance, 40% faster database performance, 45% faster large Java application performance, up to 3x more vCPU (up to 48xlarge), and up to 1.5TB memory. They support up to 50 Gbps networking bandwidth and 40 Gbps EBS bandwidth, and are available in 12 sizes including two bare metal options.

Amazon Time Sync Service adds support for Microsecond accurate time on 26 additional EC2 instance types in all commercial regions

Amazon Time Sync Service now supports microsecond accurate time on 26 additional EC2 instance types across all commercial regions. Built on AWS Nitro System infrastructure, this feature provides nanosecond precision hardware timestamps via Precision Time Protocol hardware clocks (PHC). Customers can access this capability by creating a Precision Time Placement Group (PTPG), a new placement strategy. For workloads requiring both low network latency and precision time, PTPGs can be associated with Cluster Placement Groups (CPGs), enabling distributed applications to order events, measure one-way network latency, and increase transaction speed.
