Spain's National Police arrested a man in Palencia suspected of being an active member of two pro-Russian hacktivist groups, CyberArmy of Russia Reborn (CARR) and Z-Pentest. The suspect allegedly provided logistical and operational support to a Ukrainian hacker working for CARR, including attempting to facilitate that hacker's escape to Russia via Poland and Belarus. He is also linked to operations by NoName057(16). The investigation, launched in August 2025 following FBI intelligence, led to a March 2026 raid where computers and cryptocurrency devices were seized. CARR has been tied to attacks on U.S. water and food-processing facilities and loosely linked to Russian state-backed APT44 (Sandworm). The suspect faces potential charges of membership in a terrorist organization, glorification of terrorism, and computer damage.
