MySQL Community Server 26.7 Early Access Release

MySQL 26.7 Early Access is the first Innovation release after MySQL 9.7 LTS, adopting a CalVer yy.mm versioning scheme. Key highlights include: more robust InnoDB undo log truncation using a header flag instead of a local file; internal InnoDB recovery and metadata infrastructure improvements (redo log, tablespace, MVCC/ReadView interfaces); a new Change Stream Applier for parallel replication with separate apply and commit progression, configurable via APPLIER_VERSION=2; Group Replication now defaults to the MYSQL communication stack with deprecation warnings for XCom options; post-quantum cryptography support (ML-KEM hybrid and pure algorithms) when built with OpenSSL 3.5+; upgrade/compatibility check progress reporting; and the Thread Pool Plugin now available in Community Server. The release is for evaluation only and not intended for production use.

ETH Zurich Demonstrates Quantum Computer Architecture With Mechanical Working Memory

ETH Zurich researchers have demonstrated a novel quantum computer architecture that uses microscopic mechanical resonators as quantum working memory, separating computation from storage in a design analogous to classical CPU-and-RAM architecture. Superconducting qubits act as the processor, while mechanical vibrations store quantum states. Mechanical resonators offer advantages over electromagnetic memory: smaller size, higher density, multiple vibrational modes per resonator, and longer quantum state lifetimes. The team validated the architecture by successfully executing the Quantum Fourier Transform and a period-finding algorithm, proving the system supports programmable quantum computation. Scalability to larger qubit and resonator counts remains the next engineering challenge.

Eight-qubit operation of a 300 mm SiMOS foundry-fabricated device

Researchers demonstrate the tuning and coherent control of an eight-qubit linear array of silicon spin qubits fabricated using a 300 mm CMOS-compatible foundry process at imec. All eight qubits were successfully characterized as four double-dot pairs, achieving Ramsey dephasing times up to 41 μs and Hahn-echo coherence times up to 1.31 ms. A cascaded charge-sensing protocol enables high-fidelity readout of the central four qubits. A two-qubit CZ gate operation between adjacent qubits with low phase noise is also demonstrated. The results establish operational scalability of silicon spin qubit arrays beyond the two-qubit regime while maintaining state-of-the-art coherence metrics.

Diraq Demonstrates Scaled Foundry-Fabricated Silicon-Based Qubit Array Made at imec

Diraq has successfully operated an eight-qubit silicon spin-qubit array fabricated using a standard 300 mm CMOS semiconductor manufacturing process, published in Nature Communications. This represents a fourfold increase from their previous two-qubit demonstration, achieved without degrading coherence or control performance. The qubits were fabricated by imec using the same industry-standard process from Diraq's 2025 Nature breakthrough. The readout architecture scaled favorably without significant increases in sensor count, wiring density, or thermal load. Diraq's roadmap targets hundreds of qubits currently, thousands by 2029, and over one million by 2031, all using conventional semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure.

QUDORA Partners with QAI to Bring Ion-Trap Quantum Computing to South Korea

QUDORA Technologies, a European ion-trap quantum computing company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with South Korean quantum AI firm QAI Co., Ltd. The partnership will begin with a feasibility study on deploying QUDORA's ion-trap quantum computer within QAI's AI data center infrastructure in Korea. The collaboration aims to develop hybrid AI-quantum workflows, support customer education and technology demonstrations, and expand across major Asian markets including Japan, Vietnam, India, and Southeast Asia. QUDORA will lead system construction and technical integration, while QAI handles local market development and feasibility assessment.
