A maker built an unconventional flip disc display using a single CNC-driven tool head instead of individual per-pixel actuators. The 37x18 grid of black-and-blue discs is flipped one at a time by a tool head equipped with a color sensor and LIDAR to identify which discs to flip and how far to push them. While slow, the approach avoids the complexity of wiring an actuator to every pixel. Anyone can draw or upload images to be displayed on the project, called PAR, directly from a browser.
