Analog Optical Feedback Generates 4K Fractals With No Computer

An artist known as The Light Herder built a 4K version of an analog video feedback sculpture that generates fractal patterns without any computer rendering. Achieving 4K analog feedback was hard because modern LCD monitors lack the hue, saturation, brightness, and contrast knobs common on old SD-era TVs. The solution embeds a Teensy microcontroller that talks over RS-232 to LCD driver boards to replicate that analog control, building on the creator's earlier 720p and HD ('God Machine II') feedback sculptures. Build and demo videos show the process and resulting visuals.
