Determining The Body Temperature Of Tyrannosaurus Rex

A study published in Science Advances by Randon J. Flores and colleagues used temperature-dependent formation of carbonate clumped isotopes in three Tyrannosaurus rex teeth from the Hell Creek Formation to estimate the dinosaur's body temperature at 36.3 ± 2.5°C, similar to modern warm-blooded animals and notably higher than contemporary crocodilian remains from the same area. The findings support the idea that T. rex was an active, warm-blooded predator, echoing the portrayal in Jurassic Park, though modern reconstructions now often depict more feathers and other details absent from early 1990s depictions.
