Don’t Worry, This R/C Airship Is Supposed To Be On Fire

A maker named Avery Flies built a 27-foot radio-controlled thermal airship, essentially a steerable dirigible hot air balloon. It uses a propane burner for lift, a 70mm electric ducted fan to maintain envelope shape, a brushless DC motor with an 18-inch prop for thrust, and a repurposed R/C sailboat winch servo to control a fabric rudder. Most components come from the R/C aircraft hobby world, with a custom-sewn nylon envelope.
