Elixir Matrix Server
River is an open-source Elixir Matrix homeserver built on Phoenix and Ecto, designed as a Synapse replacement. It implements both the Matrix client-server and server-server (federation) APIs using a minimal Bandit + Plug HTTP stack with no frontend assets. The project supports pluggable authentication including local accounts and delegated SSO via OIDC (MSC3861), and tracks compliance against the Complement integration test suite with 194 passing tests. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
