Gforth 1.0 adds a long list of new words and features to the Forth system. The text interpreter now recognizes more literal types, including xts, nts, and body addresses, via a recognizer mechanism. New IDE-style features let you locate word definitions, browse uses, and edit source directly from the interpreter. Multi-tasking support covers multiple cores or hardware threads, with tasks, mutexes, atomic memory accesses, message queues, and Cilk-style work distribution. The dictionary now supports multiple sections with independent pointers, word headers got a new layout, and closures add execution tokens with attached data. The release claims performance comparable to SwiftForth. Several older words are deprecated in favor of renamed replacements.
