Open-Source NVIDIA "Nouveau" Driver Sees Patches For HDMI Deep Color Support

New patches have been posted to the dri-devel mailing list adding HDMI Deep Color support to the open-source Nouveau driver, which handles NVIDIA graphics on Linux until the newer Nova driver matures. Deep Color enables higher color bit depths of 10, 12, or 16 bits per channel. The current patches only support RGB, not YCbCr, and the 16-bit-per-channel path remains untested on real deep color displays. The patches were reportedly developed with help from AI tools.
