ITO (indium tin oxide) coated glass can be repurposed as a touch-sensitive button by exploiting its electrical conductivity. Two pieces of ITO-coated glass are placed with conductive sides facing each other, separated by a paper spacer. Slight pressure flexes the glass, causing the ITO surfaces to make contact and complete a circuit. This mirrors how resistive touchscreens work, and the approach could be extended to create simple multi-position touch surfaces using just two glass pieces and some firmware.
