FreeBSD 14.5-RC1 Released With Several Security Fixes

FreeBSD 14.5-RC1 has been released as the final development build ahead of the 14.5-RELEASE expected around September 8. The update is almost entirely composed of security fixes, including patches for a race condition in POSIX shared memory large page configuration, a kernel use-after-free via TTY ioctls, a use-after-free in the sound driver's SNDCTL_DSP_SYNCSTART ioctl, and an HWPMC driver issue letting unprivileged users keep monitoring a process after it execs a setuid/setgid binary. All of these could allow local privilege escalation. The release also pulls in the latest upstream OpenSSL to fix multiple vulnerabilities in that library.
