Linux Adding New Interface For Reporting AMD SEV Status

A new sysfs interface, /sys/devices/system/cpu/sev/sev_status, is queued for the Linux 7.4 kernel to expose the status of AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) directly through the kernel rather than requiring user-space tools like sevctl or snpguest. It reports the SEV_STATUS model specific register, revealing whether SEV is active and which capabilities such as SEV-ES and SEV-SNP are enabled. The patch is queued in the x86/sev branch ahead of the Linux 7.4 cycle starting in October.
