Patches Posted For Enabling Apple Silicon Mac Speaker & Headset Jack Support On Linux

A 28-patch, 3,000-line kernel series from James Calligeros introduces a new "macaudio" machine driver aiming to finally bring speaker and headset jack support to Apple Silicon Macs on the mainline Linux kernel. The patches cover Apple M1 and M2 series Macs, including Device Tree changes, while M3 support will follow later due to missing hardware nodes. The driver handles complex speaker arrangements and relies on a userspace daemon, speakersafetyd, for speaker protection since there is no hardware-level failsafe against damage. The patches are now posted for review with mainline inclusion hoped for in the near future.
