A Mechanical Radio, Sort Of

A YouTuber proposes a thought experiment about whether ancient civilizations like the Greeks could have built a purely mechanical radio using compressed air from a waterwheel, a rotating slotted disk to amplitude-modulate airflow, and gramophone-style horns for amplification and demodulation, all without electricity. The concept is discussed as plausible but likely to produce only a poor-quality, roughly 10 kHz buzz rather than usable audio. The piece invites readers to speculate whether such a device would work at all, even if poorly, and links to other examples of simple low- and high-performance crystal radio receivers.
