Obsidian Is Reportedly Making a New Fallout Game, Avowed 2 Cancelled
Bloomberg reports that Microsoft is redirecting Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas, to develop a new Fallout game led by director Josh Sawyer. As part of Xbox's broader restructuring toward established franchises, a planned Avowed sequel has been cancelled. The move also coincides with layoffs at Obsidian. Notable Fallout veterans including Tim Cain (original Fallout creator) are now at Obsidian, and Brian Fargo's inXile Entertainment is also under the Xbox umbrella. The last mainline Fallout game from Bethesda was Fallout 76 in 2018, making this a significant development for the franchise.
