OpenWiki Brains: Proactive Memory for AI Agents

LangChain is launching OpenWiki Brains, an open-source framework that gives AI agents proactive memory by connecting to sources like Gmail, Notion, Git repos, Twitter/X, Hacker News, and web search. Unlike reactive built-in memory that only stores what users explicitly share, OpenWiki Brains autonomously fetches and organizes relevant context into a local Markdown wiki that agents can reference. It introduces two modes: Personal Brain for general work context across connected sources, and Code Brain for codebase documentation. The wiki runs locally, updates on a scheduled cadence, and requires no server provisioning. Future plans include Slack connectors, full-text and semantic search, MCP support, and richer knowledge formats.
