Valve is making it easier to build your own Steam Machine

Valve is improving SteamOS compatibility with desktop PC hardware, making it possible to build a custom Steam Machine using off-the-shelf parts. Starting with SteamOS 3.8.10, the OS now supports a wider range of Intel and AMD platforms. Valve programmer Pierre-Loup Griffais confirmed a growing team is working on Nvidia driver support, though it may not arrive this year. The company is also streamlining the installation process, which previously required a Steam Deck recovery image. For users with a TV-connected PC setup and a single drive, SteamOS can deliver an experience close to a Steam Deck or Steam Machine, with some limitations like missing HDMI-CEC support.
