AMD Preparing To Enable HDMI 2.1 FRL Support By Default For Linux

AMD is preparing to enable HDMI 2.1 Fixed Rate Link (FRL) support by default in the open-source AMDGPU Linux driver, following a patch posted by AMD engineer Fangzhi Zuo that inverts the current logic (FRL has been present since Linux 7.2 but disabled by default). The change is expected to land in Linux 7.4, which if kernel releases stay on schedule would ship in the last two weeks of December, becoming the 2026 Linux LTS kernel with HDMI 2.1 FRL, VRR, ALLM, and DSC support ready for AMD Radeon users. A module parameter, amdgpu.dcfeaturemask, will still allow disabling it for testing.
