Another x86 Advisory From Some Entity Other Than Intel Or AMD

A new x86 opcode/prefix disclosure has surfaced on the Linux kernel mailing list, relayed by x86 expert Christian Ludloff, detailing WBINVD instruction prefixes used by an unidentified corporate entity other than Intel or AMD. The prefixes define skip hints for L0i/L1i, L0d/L1d, LLC cache invalidation, and six implementation-specific hints allowing up to 64 behaviors per processor, with all ten prefixes combinable into a 12-byte instruction. The identity of the mystery x86 vendor remains unconfirmed, though speculation points to start-up RosaicLabs, which reportedly gained access to Intel Atom processor designs.
