Testing JSON-LD Like an API: 7 Checks Before Your Next Release
JSON-LD should be treated as a maintained output of the application, with its own data source, validation rules, and regression tests, not a static copy of page content. A builder function generates article markup from the same published record used by the visible page, keeping the '@id' stable across edits. A serialization helper escapes '<' characters so a headline containing '</script>' can't break out of the embedded script tag. Tests run with 'node --test' check that edits preserve identity, that missing fields aren't invented, and that script-like strings round-trip safely. Browser-level checks should then compare the rendered page against its JSON-LD to catch mismatches like stale headlines or conflicting author data from old plugins.
