Ubuntu 26.10 amd64v3 Can Provide A Nice Boost For Low-End/Budget Hardware

Canonical has begun producing daily ISOs for Ubuntu 26.10 built with the amd64v3 (x86-64-v3) instruction set, which assumes AVX/AVX2, BMI2, MOVBE, and FMA support found in Intel CPUs since Haswell and AMD CPUs since Excavator. While official plans for shipping amd64v3 as a default remain unclear, testing on a budget $449 CHUWI UniBook laptop with an Intel Core 3 304 processor (Wildcat Lake) and 8GB RAM showed that amd64v3 binaries deliver worthwhile performance gains even on low-end, entry-level hardware, not just the high-end systems where amd64v3 benchmarks have traditionally been run.
