HamsterOS lets you run a full GUI OS off a 1.44MB floppy disk
HamsterOS is a 32-bit GUI operating system that fits entirely on a 1.44MB floppy disk, targeting vintage i386/486 hardware. Written in Assembly and booted via a trimmed FreeDOS wrapper with HAMLOAD.EXE, it runs a real windowed desktop environment. It supports hard-disk installation while preserving a DOS partition. A public release is planned for November 2026, and will include a desktop shell, apps, and games.
