Sick Of Wayland Vs. Xorg? How About GEM?
A developer has ported Digital Research's GEM desktop, originally built for DOS and later Atari ST computers, to Linux. Rather than functioning as a window manager or desktop environment for X or Wayland, this GEM port runs directly in the Linux framebuffer as its own standalone graphical display. The project, by Tomaz Stih, leverages code from OpenGEM and FreeGEM and includes sample applications like a clock and calendar, with APIs reportedly compatible with Atari ST software.
