Building and programming autonomous robots at the York Micromaze Hackathon
UK RAS STEPS members gathered at the University of York's Institute for Safe Autonomy for a three-day Micromaze Robot Hackathon, building autonomous robots on a custom Raspberry Pi Pico W platform. Teams designed laser-cut chassis, integrated motors and sensors, and wrote control software in MicroPython to navigate increasingly complex mazes, with judging based on maze performance, collision avoidance, design, code quality, wireless control, and innovation. The event also served as a pilot for future professional development or outreach programs in robotics.
