ASUS Laptop Whisper Mode Support Being Worked On For Linux

A patch series has been submitted to add ASUS Whisper Mode support to the ASUS Armoury Linux kernel driver. The feature, reverse-engineered from WMI device IDs by the open-source community, allows ASUS laptop users on Linux to enable a quiet mode that reduces fan speed and CPU clock speed at the cost of performance. Three new sysfs attributes are introduced: whisper_mode for BIOS-level control, whisper_enable for dynamic runtime control, and whisper_status for reading the current state. These attributes are only exposed on laptops where WMI support is detected.
