GitHub Agentic Workflows generally available
GitHub Agentic Workflows, an open source project from GitHub Next, is now generally available. It lets you automate reasoning-based tasks like issue triage, CI failure analysis, documentation updates, and test writing using coding agents inside GitHub Actions. You define automation in natural language Markdown files, which compile into standard Actions YAML, and you can use GitHub Copilot or bring your own coding agent. Safeguards include read-only permissions by default, a sandboxed container behind an Agent Workflow Firewall, and a threat detection job that scans proposed changes. New GA features add ARC and Docker-in-Docker runner support, a non-experimental budget forecasting command, model routing, and improved agent isolation via Cloud Hypervisor or NVX micro-VMs. It's available on GitHub Free, Team, and Enterprise, though the default Copilot CLI engine needs a Copilot license.
