Teardown Of An USB-C Cable With Integrated LCD

A hobbyist disassembled a €15, 240W UGreen USB-C cable that has a built-in LCD screen showing voltage and current readings. Getting inside required destructive methods on the glued display cover and aluminum shell. Inside, the display connects via a flex cable to a PCB with voltage regulators, a backlight MOSFET, and a Cortex-M0+ MCU (marked EN32LF056) with 64 kB flash and 4 kB SRAM, which was confirmed via its exposed SWD interface. The MCU isn't wired to the USB data lines, so it only handles power monitoring, but accessing SWD pads could allow custom firmware flashing as a potential hack.
