Terraform for Snowflake, But Without Terraform

Snowflake DCM Projects is a native declarative infrastructure-as-code system for managing Snowflake objects without external tools like Terraform. Using a DEFINE keyword and Jinja templating, teams write SQL definition files that Snowflake diffs and applies via a PLAN → DEPLOY → TEST workflow. It eliminates state files, drift, and manual script ordering. The feature supports databases, schemas, tables, warehouses, roles, grants, dynamic tables, tasks, and more. CI/CD integration via GitHub Actions is available. Current limitations include no Iceberg tables, streams, or Python/Java UDFs, a 20,000 entity limit per project, and no built-in rollback command. It is currently in Preview on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
