Bungie and Sony settle lawsuit with former Marathon director for undisclosed amount

Former Marathon director Chris Barrett has settled his lawsuit against Bungie and Sony for an undisclosed amount. Barrett was dismissed by Bungie in 2024 following an internal investigation into alleged misconduct toward female employees. He subsequently sued both companies, claiming they falsely damaged his reputation to avoid paying a $45 million bonus. The lawsuit was dismissed in December 2025 for lack of jurisdiction, but a settlement was ultimately reached. As part of the agreement, Barrett's name has been added to Marathon's credits. Separately, Bungie recently laid off 292 employees, largely affecting the Destiny team following the announcement that Destiny 2 development would end.
