Running a local LLM with email access typically requires handing over full inbox permissions. AgentMail, an email inbox API built for AI agents, solves this by scoping access to dedicated inboxes via tokens. It returns email data as clean JSON rather than raw SMTP/MIME format, reducing wasted tokens in the context window. By combining AgentMail with Gmail filters that forward only specific emails (e.g., newsletters) to a dedicated AgentMail address, you can give your local LLM targeted email access without exposing your entire inbox to the service or the model.
