Union launches hardship fund for laid off developers

The United Videogame Workers union (UVW-CWA) has launched a hardship fund for game industry workers affected by layoffs in the US and Canada. Two tiers are available: a Small Fund Tier (up to $1,000) and a Major Expenses Tier ($1,000–$5,000), funded by membership fees. Grants can cover groceries, rent, medical costs, and other work-related expenses. Applicants do not need to be union members. An Itch.io charity bundle organized by Necrosoft Games will also launch later this month, with all proceeds supporting the fund.
