Digital Upgrade Brings Medium Format Camera Into The 21st Century

A hobbyist known as Wenting built an open-source digital back for the Mamiya Super 23 medium format film camera, dubbed the Sitina B220M. It uses a 22 megapixel Kodak KAF-22000CE full-frame CCD sensor that closely matches the exposure area of the original 120 film rolls. The digital processing runs on a Xilinx Zynq 7010 SoC, combining its Cortex-A9 cores with its onboard FPGA. This is a scaled-down follow-up to Wenting's earlier fully custom mirrorless digital camera project, focusing this time solely on the digital back rather than the whole camera body.
