Introducing filtered export from Amazon DynamoDB to Amazon S3

Amazon DynamoDB now supports filtered export to Amazon S3, letting a FilterSpecification (key condition, filter, and projection expressions) narrow an export to specific partitions, items, and attributes without consuming table read capacity, since it reads from the point-in-time recovery backup instead of the live table. The post walks through three use cases: recovering a single tenant's corrupted data via an incremental export instead of a 4 TB full restore, sharing one tenant's history while excluding sensitive attributes like customer contact details, and relocating a tenant's data to another AWS Region using a full filtered export plus S3 import. Filtered export uses the same per-GB pricing as existing export types, with no premium for filtering, and billing is based on matched data when a partition key condition is used. It does not yet support secondary indexes and is available in all commercial Regions.
