Migrate CLR code to AWS Lambda when upgrading Amazon RDS for SQL Server to 2025

A hands-on walkthrough shows how to replace unsupported CLR assemblies in Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2017+ with an AWS Lambda function, for cases where CLR logic has no native T-SQL equivalent (such as quote-aware, multi-line CSV parsing). The parsing logic is moved unchanged into a .NET Lambda function, exposed through Amazon API Gateway with an API key and usage plan, and invoked from SQL Server 2025 via the native sp_invoke_external_rest_endpoint stored procedure, preserving the original function signature so existing callers are unaffected. Covers building the Lambda package, securing the API with resource policies and a database scoped credential, performance characteristics (network round-trip, cold starts, payload limits), and cost estimates, with full sample code in an accompanying GitHub repository.
