Ship Fast, Leak Faster: Securing AI Agents before they cost you millions

AI agents wired into production systems with real privileges (database access, cloud credentials, email, payments) have created a new attack surface, with cybercrime losses reaching $20.9 billion in the US and AI-related crime costing $893 million in a single year. Documented incidents include the EchoLeak zero-click prompt injection against Microsoft 365 Copilot, a Replit agent deleting a production database, malicious Nx packages turning AI tools into secret scanners, and slopsquatting attacks exploiting AI-hallucinated package names. About 45% of AI-generated code fails basic security tests and only about a third of companies can revoke a hijacked agent's credentials. A checklist is offered covering least privilege, kill switches, input/output guarding, supply chain scanning, fast patching, and red-teaming before shipping agents into production.
