Mercedes-Benz hosts open-source hardware Automotive Rapid DEvelopment Platform (ARDEP)

Mercedes-Benz has open-sourced ARDEP (Automotive Rapid DEvelopment Platform), a hardware and software development platform for automotive applications. The ARDEP V2 main board is built around an STM32G474VE Arm Cortex-M4F MCU running at up to 170 MHz, featuring CAN-FD and LIN transceivers, Arduino-compatible headers, and a wide input voltage range (5–48V). A companion PowerIO Shield adds 6 high-side driver outputs and 6 digital inputs supporting up to 48V/3A per channel. The firmware runs on Zephyr RTOS and supports UDS diagnostics, DFU over CAN and USB, and comes with sample code for CAN, LIN, ADC, DAC, and more. All hardware design files (KiCad/Altium), schematics, and firmware are available on Mercedes-Benz's GitHub under Apache 2.0. The project is a collaboration with Stuttgart-based Frickly Systems GmbH, which is also preparing a crowdfunding campaign on Crowd Supply.
