Build your way: Use any AI agent of your choice in Android Studio

Android Studio now supports a Bring Your Own Agent (BYOA) feature, letting developers plug their preferred AI coding agent—such as Anthropic's Claude Agent, OpenAI's Codex, or Google's Antigravity—into the IDE, combining it with Android Studio's AI-optimized infrastructure, Android skills, and its Knowledge Base. BYOA rolls out in preview with the canary release of Android Studio Rabbit 2. The built-in Gemini agent remains available, but Google recommends the Antigravity agent for access to newer Gemini models like Gemini Flash 3.8 and higher usage quotas, supporting both Google AI Pro/Ultra plans and pay-per-token API keys. Enterprise users on Gemini Enterprise retain Google Cloud security and privacy benefits with either agent option.
