Hello Python 3.15, goodbye 3.10, and now I can use 3.11
Python 3.15 has shipped, bringing explicit lazy imports (PEP 810), unpacking syntax in comprehensions (PEP 798), a renamed tracing profiler (profiling.tracing, formerly cProfile), and a new sampling profiler called Tachyon (profiling.sampling) that can attach to a running process and produce flame graphs and heat maps. Benchmarks from Miguel Grinberg show 3.15 performs roughly the same as 3.14 except for the experimental JIT, which gave a 1.2x speedup on a Fibonacci benchmark. With 3.15's release, Python 3.10 (2021) is now officially unsupported, letting maintainers of cross-version open source projects adopt Python 3.11 features like tomllib, asyncio's TaskGroup and timeout(), datetime.UTC, and several SQLite upgrades (setlimit/getlimit, create_window_function, blobopen, and removable authorizers). Upgrade steps using uv (self update, python install 3.15, python pin --global 3.15, tool upgrade) are also walked through.
