Every Physics Teacher (And Student) Should Try This Open Source Software
KDE Step is a free, open source physics simulation tool that lets students and teachers interactively explore core physics concepts including simple harmonic motion, orbital mechanics, electrostatics, soft body dynamics, gas kinetics, and rigid body rotation. The app features a panel-based interface with configurable objects like particles, springs, charged particles, gravitational fields, and motors. Users can plot properties in real time and modify fundamental constants to explore ideal conditions impossible in the physical world. While it has some edge-case bugs (e.g., zero-mass particles crash the canvas), it is a solid educational tool up to early undergraduate level.
