The AI SDLC transformation playbook

Atlassian lays out a playbook for transforming the software development lifecycle (SDLC) around agentic AI, arguing that the biggest bottlenecks shift to planning, design, review, and maintenance once coding itself is augmented by agents. The guide frames two foundational platform investments—context (via Atlassian's Teamwork Graph) and measurement (via DX)—as prerequisites for workflow shifts across planning, design, development, review, and maintenance. It cites internal benchmarks (44% more accurate agent results, 48% fewer tokens with Teamwork Graph access; issue cycle time cut from 11.5 to 6.7 days; 51% of potential vulnerabilities auto-resolved by agent loops) and closes with five recommended moves for engineering leaders: anchor on context, invest in measurement early, choose a starting workflow, preserve accountability, and build the operating model rather than just adopting tools.
