Which Pattern Is Your Organization Actually In? A Diagnostic for IT/OT Cooperation
Drawing on The IT/OT Handbook by David Ariens and Willem van Lammeren, seven recognizable cooperation patterns are outlined that industrial organizations fall into while bridging the IT/OT divide: Silos, Outsourced Innovation, Shadow Teams, Facilitation, IT/OT Convergence, Cross-Functional Project Teams, and Product Teams. Each pattern has genuine strengths and failure modes depending on context, such as OT complexity or organizational trust. The goal is giving practitioners precise vocabulary to diagnose which pattern they're in and what a realistic next step toward better cooperation looks like, rather than vague calls to 'improve cooperation.'
